Assessing the wind situation in building development using the vortex method
This report examines wind analysis in residential and industrial developments using the vortex method for modeling wind flow around buildings and structures. This method solves the problem of three-dimensional separated flow around objects using an ideal incompressible fluid model, taking into account flow separation and the development of vortex structures. Just 25-30 years ago, this approach was practically the only feasible one for calculating three-dimensional flow around groups of objects. Today, with advances in computing technology, other approaches have emerged that simplify the vortex method within the ideal fluid model. However, its use remains justified for preliminary wind assessments, as it allows for the simulation of three-dimensional flow around fairly large groups of buildings on personal computers. Furthermore, the calculation time for configurations of several dozen buildings remains within a few hours. The report analyzes the potential of this approach for assessing wind conditions, including assessing living comfort, assessing wind loads, and transporting pollutants when droplet-dust impurities are released at a given location.
The seminar also will be held in the form of a webinar on the Zoom platform.
