In April 2021, a course of four lectures by Igor Vladimirovich Kamenkovich will be delivered at the Branch of the Moscow Center of Fundamental and Applied Mathematics at the INM RAS.

Course "Mesoscale Ocean Circulation and Earth Climate"

The course is aimed at a broad audience of undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral students specializing in geophysical mathematics, atmospheric and ocean physics, hydrodynamics, and mathematical modeling.

Professor of Oceanography in the Ocean Sciences Department at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science.

SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS: climate and its global change, geophysical hydrodynamics, physical oceanography, mesoscale oceanography.

Kamenkovich is studying ocean dynamics and its role in climate, and his research has focused on mesoscale (tens to hundreds of kilometers) and large-scale (hundreds to thousands of kilometers) currents, and on how these currents influence the atmosphere. Kamenkovich combines theory, numerical models and observational data to achieve the most complete understanding of these complex processes.
