MODELING OF FLOWS OF CARBON GAS IN SWAMP ECOSYSTEMS OF WESTERN SIBERIA.

Swamp ecosystems in Western Siberia occupy over 30% of the area and play a significant role in the global carbon cycle, being sources and sinks of greenhouse gases. The intensity of greenhouse gas fluxes is controlled by the hydrological and thermal regime of the peat deposit. Modern climate warming, an increase in the recurrence of droughts and a decrease in the water level cause drying up of peat, an increase in temperature and aeration, which contributes to an increase in greenhouse gas emissions and leads to a change in the modes of functioning of natural ecosystems.

The report presents a model of the total ecosystem exchange for studying environmental factors affecting greenhouse gas flows and calculating the regional carbon balance of wetland ecosystems. The model uses the characteristics of the local climate (air temperature and humidity, bog water level, intensity of incoming photosynthetically active radiation) and vegetation (stocks and productivity of phytomass, leaf index) as control factors, and the model parameters are determined from the results of field observations of greenhouse gas fluxes.

Based on the simulation results, the carbon balance of oligotrophic bog ecosystems of the Bakcharsky bog (Tomsk oblast) and the ridge-hollow complex of the Mukhrino bog (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug) was estimated.

An assessment of changes in the carbon-depositing function of bog ecosystems in Western Siberia during the development of oil fields in the Neftyugansk region of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug is carried out.

A forecast of violations of the carbon balance of drained and natural pine-dwarf bogs of the Tomsk region during climate warming is given.
