Faculty of Mechanics and MathematicsOver the 80 years of the existence of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University, more than 20 thousand highly skilled specialists in various fields of mathematics and mechanics have been trained within its walls; about 4 thousand of his graduates became candidates and doctors of sciences. A whole galaxy of outstanding scientists, associated with mechatics, has made a significant contribution to the development of the most important areas of mathematics and mechanics; they stood at the origins of the atomic project and astronautics. Graduates of the faculty work in research institutes, at industrial enterprises and in banks, in laboratories and computer centers, in institutes, higher educational institutions, and schools. More than a third of graduates (about 140 people) go to graduate school annually and continue to do research work, the purpose of which is to prepare a dissertation, after which the applicant is awarded the degree of candidate of physical and mathematical sciences. |
